Fall Meeting Minutes
August 25th, 2025
President Sally McClanahan called the meeting to order at 9:00 and welcomed everyone to
Another Broken Egg. She then asked everyone to introduce themselves and then asked
Secretary Tracy Crutchfield to call the roll. The following clubs were in attendance; Brook
Highland RC, Country Club of Birmingham, Gardendale Tennis Assoc., Greystone CC, Highland
Racquet Club, Hoover CC, Inverness CC, Lake Cyrus, Levite Jewish Community Center, Life
Time Fitness, Old Overton CC, Riverchase CC, Trussville Racquet Club, YMCA Greystone and
YMCA Mountain Brook. Sally then asked for a motion to approve the minutes from the Spring
Meeting, Lavonda Keel made the motion, it was seconded by Tracy Crutchfield and approved.
Sally then gave the Treasurer’s report and as of 8-25-2025 our balance is $5,929.83 A motion
was made to approve the Treasurer’s report by Tracy Crutchifield, Nancy Thomas seconded it
and it was approved.
Sally called on Annemarie Wilson our VP of Scheduling next to give us a report on schedules.
We currently have 49 teams registered to play this Fall, which is down from previous seasons.
We will have 7 teams playing PickleBall. Our season will begin Sept. 2nd for LITL and Sept. 8th
for PickleBall. Annemarie noted that we will have a Home Host team this season for YMCA
Mountain Brook due to court availability and explained that this means that this team will play
all matches away, but will bring balls and act as Home team when applicable. Carla Cole from
YMCA Mtn. Brook spoke to this issue and expressed that this was being handled and
addressed and will be resolved in the spring. This will be for one season only, and will only
affect the 5.0 Level. Life Time Fitness will have some mixed court surface issues, and will be
notifying their opponents ahead of all home matches about this.
Janet Simonetti updated us on the Pickle Ball league. The Pickle Ball league will have 6
matches this season and will start Sept. 8th. Pine Tree won for the Spring and all schedules
are set for Fall. Janet also let us know that since Pine Tree has won both seasons, she is
hopeful that if we get more teams to play, a second division can be added in order to make
play more competitive and fair.
Sally then called on Lavonda Keel, Ethics to give her report. Lavonda stated that all move
down request had been approved for Fall play noting that we had several teams move down.
She also stated that all players and teams that had made Stats have been notified. Some
players will continue to play at their current level but will have to move up if Stats dictate that
action.
Annemarie Wilson next gave us the report on the Susan Briggs Tournament. The Tournament
was a great success and we had 90 players. Due to construction issues at Inverness CC,
Hoover CC graciously helped out with hosting and play was competitive and fun for all. The
sale of the “Mulligans and Aces” was very popular and profitable. The total amount made has
not been finalized yet, but as soon as it is, it will be posted. The players received Quay
sunglasses as part of their goodie bag and she thanked Betty Austin for her help with that.
She thanked all committee members and invited anyone interested in helping out next year to
contact her.
New Business

meeting was adjourned.

Tracy Crutchfield
