Spring 2020 LITL Rep Meeting
Monday, February 17th at 9:30 am
Another Broken Egg Mountain Brook
President Tammy Schoel opened the meeting, with a welcome and introductions of the
LITL officers.
A roll of the Club reps was taken with all but the following clubs being present at the meeting:
Lake Cyrus, Greystone CC, Vestavia CC and MB YMCA
Annemarie Wilson, VP scheduling made a motion to accept the Fall meeting minutes posted on the web site as approved and Tammy seconded the motion, which was approved.
Pattie Moultrie gave the treasurers report of a bank balance of of $13,862.09 before the deposit of the Spring 2020 team registration fees. Approximately $3500 was spent on the Fall awards that were purchased by Janet Simonetti VP awards.
Annemarie Wilson, VP scheduling gave the scheduling report. There were 54 teams registered for the Spring 2020 season. This number is holding constant with previous seasons. Annemarie acknowledged Nancy Thomas who assisted with the 5.0 and 5.3 divisions scheduling.
The official start date for the spring season will be the week of March 9th with the exception of the two Mountain Brook Y 5.3 teams that will play each other the week of March 3rd, and have a bYE the week of April 14th, due to the lack of court availability that week.
Spring Break BYE week is the week of March 23rd.
Tammy went over the following rules for the league.
No subs to play on First court, be sure to note on your scoresheets if you are using a sub.
Please use the score sheets! We have had problems with captains and players forgetting their scores or player names after the match.
If you note an error, either on a player name or score, please do not hit the dispute key, notify the other captain to allow her to make the corrections. Once you hit dispute, the officers have to get involved which slows down the process.
Play starts at 9:30 am warms ups are to be concluded prior to this start time.
If multi court surfaces are to be used the home captain needs to either notify the opposing team ahead of the match, or allow the opposing team captain to adjust their line up on match day. (Mountain B YMCA will be using one indoor court for their home matches, so 5.3 teams please take not of this)
We play a full third set, captains may not substitute a tie break, because this messes up the scoring process on the computer.
Deb Standifer of ethics was home with a sick child, so the move downs and stat winners will be posted on the web site.
Betty Austin announced the dates of the Susan Briggs Tournament Of August 24th. The weather temperatures will determine whether one or two matches will be played each day.
New Business:
Amy Acker of Highland emailed a motion to allow for a tie break for the winter league in lieu of a third set. The rational was because the winter league does not start until 10:30 matches were running much later and placing time constraints on those picking up kids from school.
Discussion followed, with concerns about confusion that would be created if we had a format for one season, but a different format for winter. People also voiced their like of the third set, as none of the other leagues offer it any more.
A vote was taken for those who would be in favor of a tie break in lieu of a third set for the winter league. No one voted in favor, and the opposed vote was unanimous.
There was no other new business. Janet Simonetti announced that the winners were on the web site and door prizes had already been handed out by employing a new method of distribution. (Reps picked a key ring as they entered, which had the door prize they won on the tag)
Court availability and switching days was informally discussed with no resolution.
Tammy adjourned the meeting at approximately 10:50 am
